The Netflix Tag!

Hey everyone,I haven't been able to make any new posts for a week or so because I've been super busy with college work, but I found a post on 'Lola's Little Wonders' blog called 'The Netflix Tag' and decided to quickly give it a go, as I'm a Netflix addict!

1. What are your favourite series to watch on Netflix?

Oh gosh, this really is the broadest question to start me on. Off the top of my head, the ones I can remember are - Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon A Time, Glee, American Horror Story, Bobs Burgers, Criminal Minds, Orange Is The New Black, Orphan Black, Sherlock, The 100, Miranda... Honestly, the list is endless. In my defence, I tend to watch series' more often than films, so that is partly why there are so many!

2. What are you currently watching on Netflix?I'm currently watching Criminal Minds and I'm absolutely loving it! I remember watching an episode of it a couple of years ago and it terrified me - there was something to do with a guy turning women's scent's into perfume and skinning their feet or something, and the night I watched that I couldn't sleep because I was so scared that some creepy old man was going to skin my feet in my sleep! Thankfully, I'm much better now when it comes to scary and gruesome tv shows (whether this is something to be proud of I don't know), and I'm currently on the second series of the show. Haven't reached the feet episode yet though... that'll be fun.

3. If you could have any series, old or new, put on Netflix; what would it be?I'd actually really love to see some of the old shows I used to watch as a child on Netflix, like My Parents Are Aliens, the old S Club 7 series, and maybe a couple of the disney shows like Thats So Raven and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody! Ahhh I miss disney channel!

4. What is your one peeve about Netflix? The one tiny thing I hate is the layout of the website. It makes my eyes hurt scrolling sideways through all the films and series, although maybe thats just a sign that I've spent too long on Netflix and need to actually get up off my arse and do something productive!

5. What are your essentials for a perfect night in with Netflix? To be honest I'm not really that fussy. Give me decent internet access, copious cups of tea, and a couple of chocolate biscuits and I'm a happy chappy!

6. Recommend one series or film for someone to watch on Netflix.I want to recommend the best series I've ever seen, which is Orphan Black. I don't have the words to describe how much I love this show, and the answer to this question won't do it justice. I think I might actually make an entire blog post about Orphan Black at some point, because the show really doesn't get the recognition it deserves which is such a shame. For those of you who haven't heard of it, its a sci-fi show about clones. One clone witnesses the suicide of another clone and steals her identity, only to find that yet another clone is trying to assassinate all these sisters. I should add that all these women are played by the same incredible actress (Tatiana Maslany) who does so well, and the camera work is so clever with the way they have scenes where clones are interacting. Anyway, I'll save my waffling about OB for my next blog post.

7. Name a series on Netflix that you keep meaning to watch, but haven't.Parks and Recreation! It looks so funny but I'm holding off on that one until my degree finishes, otherwise I know I'll get addicted to it and spend too much time procrastinating by watching it when I should be doing some work. I also really want to watch The Walking Dead at some point, that looks really interesting and I have a friend who is super obsessed with it so it must be pretty good!

8. Did you discover anything awesome because of Netflix? The 100! It isn't the kind of show I'd normally watch because I've never really been into futuristic things and space, but I kept seeing gifs on tumblr from the show and decided to give it a go. I was hooked immediately, its such a cleverly done show and a fantastically original idea.

So thats it, all the questions answered! I hope this was interesting guys! Let me know in the comments below what you're watching on Netflix and if you have any recommendations for me!

Take care and keep smiling,

Feel Unique Haul

Hey everyone,

Generally speaking, I'm terrible when it comes to treating myself. I don't tend to go on massive spending splurges or anything like that, but a couple of days ago I gave in and went on a spending haul on feelunique.com as I had a 15% off voucher, and I thought I'd share the items that I bought on here!

The first items I got are L'Oreal Paris' Nude Magique BB and CC Creams. I've never used the CC Cream before, but I've been using the BB Cream for several months and I absolutely love it. I have pretty bad skin at the moment and am suffering with constant acne which tends to leaves scars and marks on my face. The BB Cream is incredible for helping cover those up, and I'm excited to try the CC Cream which claims to reduce/cover up redness.

The next items I got are same Tanya Burr nail polishes in the shades (in order, L-R, top row and then bottom) Be Bright Be Happy Be You, Penguin Chic, Mini Marshmallows, Peaches & Cream, Bright & Early, and Little Duck. Okay, so I may gone overboard a little on these, but they are honestly the best nail polishes I've ever used aside from the Barry M Collection. Considering they're not that expensive, the quality is incredible and doesn't chip for ages. I've used the Mini Marshmallows and Little Duck shades before and I'm not super excited to try the rest!

I also purchased a few boxes of false nails! I've never tried these before, I've always been kind of apprehensive about false nails because I don't want to destroy my real nails with the glue, but all of these ones don't require any hassle or glue at all and say that they're really easy to apply. The brand has wonderful reviews so hopefully I'll love them as much as I'm anticipating I will! Although I love doing my nails, I have absolutely no ability to do them with gorgeous patterns, so it'll make a lovely change for me to have some cool and exciting patterns and shapes.

Another couple of products I got are a Maybelline mascara and eyeliner. I always get Maybelline mascaras' because they're my go-to brand for eyelashes, but I've never really been adventurous with eyeliner. Since I started using make-up, I have always used the same eyeliner - the Natural Collection Liquid Eyeliner. It's cheap and cheerful and does exactly what its meant to do - no need for any expensive brands! However, although I'll definitely still use it, I thought I might as well give another one ago just as I was buying lots of other items as well!

The final purchase in my haul is the one I'm more excited about. I've been wanting to buy some proper make-up brushes for such a long time, and I've seen and heard so many people raving about the Real Techniques brushes that I gave in and got them, despite them being a little out of my price range (but hey, you've got to treat yourself sometimes right?). They are so gorgeous and look so neat in their case! I can't wait to use them, they feel super soft and just look wonderful in my make-up collection!

So there we have it - my little feelunique.com haul! I might make an updated post about these products at some point once I've tried all of them out. Have any of you guys ever tried these products, and if so what did you think? Let me know in the comments below, I'd love your input!

The highs and lows of a new puppy

Hey everyone,

Almost 3 weeks ago I got a gorgeous new puppy. He is a West Highland White Terrier, and his name is Oscar. I've wanted a little Westie for such a long time, and I never thought I'd see the day I finally got one - I honestly feel so lucky and blessed that my parents finally gave in after all my begging and pleading!

This little bundle of fluff has completely turned my world upside down, but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. He's a real character, and he's currently at the age where he's testing us to see what he can and can't get away with. I've managed to teach him a couple of tricks so far ('Sit' and 'Lie Down'), and he's getting so good at walking on the lead when we take him out for walkies! My favourite thing is to watch him from behind and giggle at the way he runs; we've called it "the westie wiggle" because his little tail just goes from side to side and he bobs up and down constantly.

My other favourite thing which Oscar does is constantly follow me around, stopping whenever I stop and then just plonking himself down and looking up at me with eyes that say "Oi, Mummy, gimme a treat". I don't think he's quite understood that treats are for when we do tricks, like 'sit' and 'lie down'. He seems to think that if he sits or lies down next to me, even when I don't say anything, he's going to get a treat! It probably isn't a habit I should encourage, but he is so darn cute that sometimes its difficult to resist that little face!

Of course, not everything with a new puppy is fun and laughs. Its like a baby I guess, they're all cute and cuddly, but behind closed doors no one really sees the amount of work needed to take care of that baby, or in my case, puppy. Potty training started off as a complete nightmare, and although he is now mainly going outside to do his business (touch wood), we do still have a couple of tiny incidents. Little Oscar has also developed an obsession with chewing people's fingers, something which he seems to find hilarious and so much fun - me, not so much. Overall though, he's settling in well, at least I hope he is! It must be hard for puppies when they're taken away from their mummy and their siblings, so I do find myself wondering occasionally if he misses them, and if he's happy here.

No matter what though, this little monkey has given me a reason to smile, over and over again. I'd never had a pet before Oscar, so although I knew that owners love their pets so much and think of them as part of the family, I didn't realise how true that is until he came along. I love him so much, and I already can't imagine my life without him anymore.

I'd love to hear about your pets and your experiences in the comments below!

Keep smiling and take care,
Aimee

Fresh Starts and Happy Thoughts

Hey everyone,

I'm super excited to start this blog, so thank you for taking the time to read this. I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while now, several months in fact. I'm currently overcoming a tough time, and I now want to try and focus on the good and positive things in my life, rather than the things that have been weighing me down. This blog is a way for me to do that - to share all my happy memories and little bits and bobs of my daily life with all of you.

So I guess I should introduce myself with a couple of fun facts about me so you can all know who I am. Lets do this in bullet points, how lovely and neat and exciting:
  • My name is Aimee, I'm 20 years old, and I live in Jersey in the Channel Islands
  • I'm currently studying a Social Sciences degree, and in a couple of months I'll hopefully be finished with it (which is good because I'm hating it)
  • I have a gorgeous new puppy called Oscar (I'll make another blog post about him soon!)
  • I watch way too many tv shows for my own good
  • I love watching youtube videos, particularly vlogs and beauty videos
  • In my free time I'm a complete bookworm and I also write, although I'm too scared to let anyone read my work!
  • Recently I've been trying to get into baking, having been inspired by The Great British Bake Off :)
Not going to lie, I really struggled to think of things to write there, although I think we all would! It's kind of like when you're at your first day of school or work, or in a new class and you have to "say a fact about yourself". I don't know about you, but in those situations I always freeze on the spot in a blind panic because knowing me I'll say something silly or embarrassing and then spend the next hour wishing I hadn't opened my mouth at all.

Maybe one day I'll get better at talking about myself, and just other things in general, but for right now I'm taking things one step at a time. Like this blog post is titled, I'm thinking about fresh starts and happy thoughts. Spring has sprung; the sun has come out and the world feels beautiful.

Keep smiling and take care,
Aimee x
